Each member of the Board holds office for a period of five years and no person is allowed to hold office for more than two consecutive terms.
Whenever a vacancy occurs among the appointed members, the Minister for Health appoints a replacement. If a vacancy takes place among the elected members, the Board co-opts a person with the same qualifications as a replacement.
