WELCOME ADDRESS for National Conference of the Review of Nurses and Midwives in the Prescribing and Administration of Medicinal Products

Ladies and Gentleman, as Chairperson of the Review of Nurses and Midwives in the Prescribing and Administration of Medicinal Products I welcome you here today on the occasion of this national conference. This comprehensive review begun in 2001 culminates today with the presentation of its findings and the launch of the Final Report It has been a joint endeavour between An Bord Altranais - the Nursing Board and the National Council for the Professional Development of Nursing and Midwifery. A multidisciplinary steering committee representing key stakeholders within the professions of nursing, midwifery, medicine and pharmacy; educationalists, representatives of the Department of Health and Children from the Nursing Policy Division and Pharmacy and health service management as well as patient organisations has supported the project team. I would like to thank all the Steering Committee Members past and present and the members of both Boards for their support of this project during its lifetime and particularly Sheila O’Malley past Chairperson of the Review from its inception to 2002...(further details of the welcome address and abstracts attahced).
