An Bord Altranais awards Post-Registration Category 1 approval to the following education pathways

  • in-service training/education for hospital/health board staff
  • seminars
  • study days
  • conferences: national/international
  • refresher courses


In-service training/education is a learning experience provided for hospital, community/health board employees, for the purpose of assisting staff to perform assigned functions in a particular setting.

If you proposing to run a course and wish it to be considered for Post-Registration Category 1 approval please submit full details to Chief Education Officer, An Bord Altranais.

For information on the policy for the approval of Category 1 courses please refer to the Policy for the Approval of Courses document and the Category 1 Approval Submission Templete attached.
